Title: Kicked out of the pool
Post by: JoeCamper on April 20, 2017, 10:52:12 AM
I need your opinion, I was staying a few days at a campground with my daughter and her friend.  The day we were scheduled to leave, we woke up, had breakfast, packed the camper and moved the camper off the site so it was available for another person.  We had a few hours to kill so we went for a swim in the pool.  There was a few others swimming and no life guard.

At 2pm (check out time) an employee from the office came out and told us that it was check-out time and we had to either leave the pool or pay $4 per hour, person to use the pool.

After spending several days there spending money left and right with paying for the site, ate at the restaurant, paid for mini golf, bought ice cream and more, I thought it was a lame thing to do.  Your thoughts?

We are usually an early departure, so it has never happened to us. However, I have seen where some "resort" type campgrounds will allow you to arrive early or leave late, park your camper somewhere & use the facilities for an additional fee, sort of like a day use fee.

At Great Wolf Lodge check out is 11 am but you can stay to close that day. So definitely lame.  Out the place so no one else has the same problem.

Joe I think you were hacked on this site. The person posted that you were packed up and off the site before checkout time.

Personally, I think that's awful.  Campgrounds are in the hospitality business, just like a hotel or a B&B.  It really shouldn't matter if you spent a lot of money at their cg over several days or if it was just one nite stay.  The fact that they singled out who had already checked out sounds like this is something they routinely watch for and I don't think I would want to stay there.

The only way I could possibly see it justified is if they were sold out and it was standing room only at the pool.  But the fact they would still let you use the facility but only if you paid, that's $4 income for an immeasurable bad customer relation feeling.
