Just home from our New Years camping trip. We will check the various woodpiles in the yard & gather up some wood for this trip. I'm not sure what's out there, split or not, but will certainly toss some in the truck.

Buy One, Get One free.  Call the res center with the discount number.

I will be making this trip. Chiefbowes will be driving down from Rochester NY and staying in my other bunk.

I was thinking about doing some geocaching on Saturday morning....anyone interested in joining me?

Depending on the weather depends on how adventurous I am.  I would like to take a good hike and hit some of ones that are off the beaten path.  I won't have Nathan with me so I can walk farther and longer than a 5yo :)  But if it is super cold there is a multicache near the campground that has elluded me.  I found 3 small pill bottles in the woods but not the final ammo box

Sounds good, Matt. We did a multi in the UP. Found the first stages, but not the last. It drove us crazy to have to leave without finding the final. Grrr...

Looks like a nice group so far.  I'm waiting to see if my younger daughter will come this time, my older daughter came 2 years ago so I'm trying to be "fair" (and the older has an event so she can't come anyway).  I don't know of any other R-poders coming.

I can bring some split wood although between what has been mentioned so far plus the stuff that is usually dumped at the top of the loop I'm not sure it is necessary.  Someone let me know.

In the past our group always set up a few EZ-ups and wrapped them in plastic, 2 years ago there was a full-sized "garage" tent, so they could be somewhat heated and used later in the evening when/if it got too cold to stand around the fire.  I always bring a propane-fired campfire ring for that.  I can do that again if anyone is interested.

I think it is best to answer your question in pictures.

Fire from Thanksgiving 2 years ago....2 cords of wood burned

Halloween Rally this year.  Used 5 fire rings.

The winter rally fire last year...only had 1/2 a trailer of wood.

TWO CORDS!  I burn over 4 each year in my house.   :o

So, that would mean NO on the warming tent, too, but YES on the suntan lotion.

I don't mean to jinx us, but the extended weather forecast looks pretty decent for mid-January :)

Yes, It does look to be a nice weekend coming up.

I threw the last few pieces of wood on the trailer....Hopefully it will be enough
