great question, we have a 2010 Coleman and could smell the battery boiling while camping and plugged into shore power for a week.

If you have room and a larger battery box Group 27 will last longer. If you are always going to be hooked up to electric at a site, then it doesn't matter what group size.

Most modern 12v CONVERTERS (Converters take 120V and produce 12v, Inverters take 12V and make 120v) have 3 stage charging. If your battery is below 75%, it will output 13.9v up to 14.4v depending on the converter brand. Once the battery reaches 90% of capacity, it will output 13.6v. When it has been at 100% for a number of hours, it will going into "float" mode at 13.2v.

2 simple ways to tell. Take a cheap multimeter and test at the battery, our you can can wire in one of these cheap display units by tapping any of the 12V lines.

Do I have to use expensive, vented battery boxes & vent tubes & vent caps....., to vent 2 batteries I want to mount in the cabinet of my popup, or could I use a vented access door like the one behind my 3-way fridge? It seems to me it would offer more ventilation than a vented battery box & I could line it with screen to keep out insects. I could replace the latch with a lockable one & this would give me access to charge even when closed down. I have to mount the two 27 batteries, I just impulsively bought (because of a sale), closer to the axle because I will be over my tongue weight limit if I mount them out front. I realize I still have to use regular battery boxes or trays inside to keep the batteries from bouncing around while traveling. I'm 90% sure I'm confident in doing this, but I'm also not an expert on venting batteries so I don't want to blow anything, myself or anyone else up!

installed a 30a main breaker that "back feeds" the bus which by passes the lug. this to me seems like a better fix than the lug, but i am no expert. looking for opinions weather to replace the lug or leave the 30a breaker..
thanks
