One of the main overriding goals of this conversion was to make Forum use work well on a cell phone. This new forum software displays very well on a cell phone and makes writing messages and topic really easy. Plus now you can put pictures in topics as needed by just uploading the picture as an attachment.

The 2018 group rallies are all moved over and set up.

Check out the full list by clicking on the 'Group Rallies' button on the main menu or click on any individual rally from the drop-down menu.

You could subscribe to entire forum or forum, but would generally be a bad idea as you would be inundated with emails as things get busy.

It is really easy when you check in to look at the top of the forum. Right there it will say the number of new messages since last time here, and if you click it, it will popup a list. Or, if you want to see what was the last message in each forum, click the drop down arrow on the new/updated dropdown and see the last ones in every forum.

The new CanvasCampers website is now launched with the main page and forum up and running. We have exciting things happening for 2018 and many old features will be launched shortly with several new ones. We will use this thread to update you on what's new.

If you are an existing member, you will need to reset your password.

Here is a quick shortcut to reset your password for the new site. Since passwords are encrypted and each system uses its own encryption key, there was no way to bring over the passwords. Here is a shortcut link to reset your password: https://canvascampers.com/user.....a=pwdreset

I think the "more people using it" will resolve itself one members can get to the site from their cell phones without 3rd party programs or special work arounds.

Now that the last group rally on 2017 is over, we will be working on starting the upgrade.

We will have a new front page and forum section with several new features, fix several things that are broken and an exciting new look.

Yes good point about responsive sites. I hate the typical forum software that makes posts hard to read in tiny font sizes on an iPad. And I already have an app for reading forums. It's called Safari.

On the system side, Tapatalk is a constant drain and it ignores security, so we have do jump through hoops to keep it in sync. Tapatalk was popuplar before websites and forums were responsive, now that most forums auto adjust for phones, it gets hard to justify it. The other issue has to do with the fact that Tapatalk shows their own ads - they don't allow us to limit the type of ads, and we get no revenue at all from it. They keep it all. Its not like the system here makes much, but there is a monthly bandwidth charge that is getting higher and higher.

I might be the minority here...but I like using tapatalk instead of the web browser. I find keeping up with multiple forums easier through tapatalk.

I don't visit popupportal that much anymore since they discontinued tapatalk support.

As an occasional rally moderator, an easier way to add people to the chart of the campsite #'s, # Adults, #Children, etc. Trying to maneuver around the "code" can be difficult at times on these old eyes. LOL

Yep adding media is a huge plus. Love the idea of a new responsive site. Mostly I just want some other members from this side of the country to chime in every once in a while. But that's a whole different can of butter
