10-15 good sized granny smith apples ( or your favorite apple
1/2 Box of Brown Sugar
1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
1 Stick Butter (Unsalted)
Cinnamon

Fill a charcoal chimney with the charcoal and start with newspaper or a large camp burner, do not use starter fluid.

Core, and slice apples into about 6 pieces per apple. Line oven with heavy duty foil if desired for easier cleanup. Place sliced apples in bottom of oven. Sprinkle the brown sugar on top of apples.

Cover the apples and brown sugar with yellow cake mix, do not mix.

Cut up the stick of butter and place pats of butter on top of the cake mix.

Sprinkle with a little cinnamon powder. Place about 10 charcoal briquettes underneath oven and around 10-15 on top.

Cooking usually is 45-mins to an hour depending on temperature / wind conditions. Check after 30-45 minutes, it is done when the crust starts to brown and you can see the apples/brown sugar mixture bubbling up through the crust.

I saw this on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and thought I could recreate it fairly well. From what I remember I did the following:

Roasted off two seasoned (salt, pepper and garlic) boneless skinless chicken breasts (think next time use some thigh too) on a rack.

Cool and dice chicken; reserve the liquid that gathers to add to concoction.

Scoop out two avocados to the diced chicken. Mash together thoroughly until creamy.

2 tsp dijon mustard (Optional, but tasted very good)
2 Tbsp mayo
1 good healthy squirt of wasabi mayo (substitute more mayo in place, if desired)

Mix all together well, cover and chill for about 1 hour prior to serving.

Place about 1/4-1/3 cup mixture on toasted bread or buns. Or, top your favorite salad greens with the mixture.

2 qts. water
2 16 oz. cans of garbanzo beans (chick peas)
4 strips of bacon, cut into squares
pinch of paprika
1 1/2 onions, chopped
2 oz. butter or margarine (1/2 stick)
1 lb. beef cubes, cut into small pieces
4 large potatoes, cubed
pinch of saffron
garlic powder
salt to taste
6-8 oz. sliced pepperoni

Place the garbanzo beans and beef in water in a large stew pot. Cook 45 minutes over low heat. Meanwhile, fry the bacon, onions and paprika in the butter or margarine. Add to the beans along with the diced potatoes, saffron, salt and garlic powder. When the potatoes are done, remove from heat and add pepperoni.

If you're interested in authenticity, in the original version, the beans are not canned, the bacon is replaced with a ham hock and the pepperoni is replaced with Cuban chorizo. The recipe doubles, triples and even quadruples nicely. It also refrigerates quite well and gets even better when reheated, so you can make it at home and bring it with you if you want or you can chop your veggies and the beef cubes before you leave and have it all ready to go when you get to camp. You can also officially call yourself a glamper when you need to have a little jar of saffron in your pup.

Directions:
Add some potato slices and onions
Pour a couple spoonfuls of tomato soup straight from the can on top
Season with salt and pepper
Wrap in a foil pack and add a second layer of foil around it so it's stronger.
