Cape Henlopen reservations are one year in advance and are opening up NOW, depending on your arrival dates. Sites come available at 8 am and won't last long. There have been reservation changes due to the high demand. (SEE BELOW)... but first...
- This campground offers easy access, only four miles from Route 1.
- Most all the sites are shaded with large pines.
- Most sites offer water and electricity with a few full hook-ups.
- There is a lot of history with Fort Miles Museum and Historical Area onsite.
- There are great opportunities for sunrise (Fort Miles Battery Herring) and sunset viewing.
- There are multiple beautiful, free (with your camping) beach accesses for relaxing or swimming.
- Visit the nature center with a 1,000-gallon aquarium and a touch tank.
- Enjoy the view from 'The Point', where the bay meets the Atlantic Ocean.
- Drive, ride or walk into town for community pickleball and tennis courts.
- Biking is awesome with extensive trails and bridges throughout the campground and the ecosystem. You can take a ride to the Rehoboth boardwalk for ice cream or fresh french fries. You can also borrow a bike for free, courtesy of the Friends of Cape Henlopen.
Camping Policy Changes: The following reservation changes are being implemented as of May 1, 2025.
Primary Occupant Requirement
The Primary Occupant listed on any reservation cannot be changed once a reservation is made and must present a valid ID at check-in.
Reservation Change Freeze
To provide a fair and consistent experience for all campers, an 18-calendar day change freeze will be applied to new reservations beginning May 1, 2025. All changes, including modifying arrival dates or transferring reservations, will not be possible within 18 days of the original booking date.

Hey All, just putting this out there. Stephanie and I will be rolling in on Monday and want to go out for dinner. We have a favorite place that we are planning to visit Monday for dinner. If anyone cares to join us the place is Touch of Italy just over the bridge in Lewes and after we could stroll down King Street to the creamery. Plenty of time to think about it, I just wanted to put the offer out there. We are excited to see everyone and hope this trip is a much slower pace than our trip to Indiana. Rest and Relaxation.
