They do take a while to cool.  I keep to 2 litter bottles of ice in the freezer at home and put them in the camper fridge to help with the cooling process if I forget to turn it on the day before we leave.

Bigdawg I always turn my on the day before I use it.  However here lately I usually just us a cooler.  The only time I end up using the frig is if there is leftover on a plate then I will stick it in the frig.

Noobie question from former a cooler-only user about the Dometic.  There are two switches for the electric power source, one for 120v and the other for 12v.  I currently have the pup sitting in my dirveway prepping for our first "trip" this weekend.  It's connected to the house via extension cord and the fridge is on via the 120v switch.  Should I turn the 120v switch off and the 12v switch on while towing to our site?  Are there any issues with having the fridge on while travelling?

Only run 12v when towing if your trailer wiring is set up.for it. Otherwise you kill your trailer battery

Don't park anywhere to eat with it on 12 volt and hooked up to the TV. Both the camper and the TV will be dead. Don't ask how i know.

I love the tip about freezing up a couple of two liter bottles to help cool the fridge. Absolutely going to do this. Thx

How do I check or set up my trailer battery to charge from the TV alternator. Be nice to keep cooling while we are on the road.

Cheers
Adam
