Hi everyone

Does anyone here watch a TV while camping or let their kids? We went camping recently and after the kids played outside all day riding bikes and sit around the fire for a while they asked if we could start bringing a TV with us for them to watch before going to sleep?  I was thinking of ways we could do it , but I don't want to spent a lot of money.

Do anyone here watch TV while camping? Do you have suggestions, DVD, cable, satellite dish?

Personally I won't invest in a television for my popup.  I do take my laptop while camping and a few DVD's for my niece and nephew when they camp with us.

I am not a big fan of television while camping but I see nothing wrong with watching 1 DVD or show before bed after a day of running around.

We have a 19 flat panel with a built in dvd that we take just so the kids can watch right before bed, then I can watch it to help me fall asleep (I know bad habit) I like to watch the local news no matter where we camp just to keep an eye on the weather.

We have one in the HTT, but never brought one before when we had our pup. Our general rule is no TV or other electronics (Nintendo DS) unless it's too rainy or cold+windy to be outside.

We are thinking of getting a small flat screen so we can catch the news & weather. You do not need a satellite to watch the local channels.

Everyone has their style of camping or idea of what is right or wrong.  We have been taking two 13" TV's and DVD player/VHS or both.  Also take DGD's portable DVD player for in the vehicle and her Nintendo DS and sometimes she takes her Ipod and one to three laptops depending on who is going and whether it is camping or vacation.  This year we are changing out one of the 13" TV's for a 19" flat panel we got for Christmas and a smartphone to tether the laptop.  Now I am sure you are thinking why go camping with all of this.  We do spend time outdoors.  We also bring reading materials, fishing equipment, lots of toys and board games and sometimes we have even taken a little swimming pool.  We don't use everything every time just have it all so we can use what we want.  I think it is fine to use a TV or whatever makes all of you happy.  Just to enjoy yourself.  I have seen many that pull in hook up and you only see them if they come out to get in a vehicle to leave and come back and go back inside.  But if they are doing what makes them happy, then so be it.  Many times we are only at our camper long enough to clean up, eat a meal or sleep.  Hope everyone has a great camping season.

We don't have one, but if you do, who am I to say no?  Enjoy camping how YOU want to enjoy camping.  That's what it's all about!

We bring the laptop with TV card in it for long trips (7+ days). This gives us the opportunity to check the weather, watch a DVD, or watch TV in the evening.

For weekend trips, no TV, no computer, no blackberry, only the cell phone for emergencies

The HTT came with one.  I have only used it a few times, mostly for news and weather.

Rules about camping???  Somehow that seems wrong.

For us it depends on where we are going.  We have a 19" flat panel TV that is easy to take along if we want it.  I also got a digital TV antenna and put clips on it so I can attach it to one of the poles that supports the tent if we need an antenna.

If it's a trip to the beach and we're using the camper as our hotel room, we probably have a cable connection and we enjoy the TV.  If it's a camping destination for the sake of camping, then the TV stays at home.

Do whatever you enjoy.  Otherwise, stay home or go to a hotel!

We usually take the laptop so we can research the area with MS streets & trips to see what might be of interest in the area to us. Some nights we might watch a DVD on it but not very often.

We have a teenage daughter that usually stays at home (not the very outdoorsy type but does go occasionally) and she has a habit of calling us a lot if we have cell service so we also use the laptop to charge the cell phones.

The wife and I both have recently quit smoking (the hardest thing I have ever done in my life!!) and we are using E-cigarettes to help us phase out the nicotine all together and the laptop is now used to charge them also.

We use to pack the telly but finally took it out as we figured the laptop covered basically everything we needed. That and the telly was just taking up to much precious room in the pop up.

I feel if you want to watch TV that is your choice just don't have it so loud that I can hear the "trailor trash" from the Jerry Springer show yelling about how there brothers sisters cousin stole there man!!! ;D
