What set up do you all use. I have a 30 and a 20 but only one mount on pup. I bought a 30 twin mount thinking I could mod it to use one of each, but no dice. So I have to use either two 20's or 2 30's.  being so new to pups  any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated

I use two 20lbs. The camper is set up for it with an inset on the front panel and a cover that is held against the front. I just want to change from a single tank regulator to a duel tank one

unless you are on a seasonal spot, i see no need for two 30lb. tanks, especially on a popup.
we can go a whole season without going through even one 20lb. tank, let alone both.

Two 30# tanks is horrible overkill for 95% of campers; myself included.  We don't use a single 20# tank in a season, but we don't have a furnace either.  Truth be told, our single 20# is enough, but like you, I want a second tank to insure I don't run out during a trip.  Two 20# tanks should be more than enough if you want to mount them both.  However, my recommendation to you would be to save your money and just mount a single 20# tank, then change it from time to time so you don't risk running out on a trip.  That's what we do.

I see no point in running dual tanks, even 20#'s.  Just make sure it is full before you leave if you are worried about running out.

When I had my pup I would go all season on a 20# tank as well.  Granted I didn't have a HWH or fridge, but it is the heater that sucks up the propane.  I have heard that a pup will suck up a 20# tank in a cold weekend running the heat all day and warm.  I would keep it at 50 over night.  I would make sure I had a full tank when I went camping in the cold.  I had a spare tank in the backyard as well as the one on the grill so at least one of the 3 was full at all times.

We also only use a single 20lb fill over a season.

Because we camped 60 - 70 days per season, a lot of it in early spring and late fall, we could go through 4 tanks a year with our pup. With the HTT, we're down to about 1-1/2 per year. Those were all 20 gal tanks.

Wow I didn't expect all these responses. TY.
We have been in the pup for 90 something straight days.  family emergency!  Right Thu the Georgia
Winter. Reason I am saying this is we used a lot of propane for heating, hwh.  We have no gauge of how much we would use in spring and fall camping.  I do know we will be doing more cool weather camping since we are from Upstate NY. Also we will be back in GA in late February early March.
I guess 2 20's should be fine for spring and fall Camping!
Anyone  need or want  a 30# 😉  THANKS AGAIN

One 20 mounted, carry an additional 20 if needed.
Changing over at 2am is easy with ACME connector.
The extra cylinder sits next to the a-frame.

We had a Propane company install a changeover regulator yesterday.  IT is not the hookup I expected.
Metal flex hose to the pup and the changeover regulator. Copper line to the tanks which I need a wrench to take off. The regulator just hangs  in the air between the tanks. I expected to reuse the rubber connector that came with the pup and a longer one to reach the 30LB on the ground.  I figured I would let a professional  hook it up, blah should have  done it myself . What a waste of time and money .
Sorry for the whine, just disappointed

I am sorry to hear that Terry! Sounds like the Tech. was use to hooking up for resdential instead of camper/recreational! I know several camping places will carry the flex lines like you are talking about that hook up to the tanks. Check with camping world and several other camper supply places to obtain these hoses. I am like you, most change over valves will attach to the shaft that clamps down the tanks while in storage. Good luck in getting it where it needs to be.

Terry, the closest camper place to you (us) is Three Way Camper in Kennesaw. They might be able to help you out. (Better late....) :-

Crouching under the bunk in the middle

No crouching needed for me, YMMV. My limit is the battery, with hook ups there's electric heat.

We have only used the propane to heat for more than a short period once. It took three days and nights to drain a 20 lb tank. Otherwise, grilling and occasional cooking in the PUP we do not go through 20 lbs. in a season.
