Am planning on going on our first "real" long distance camping trip with hubby in September and am thinking that Maine  would be a good destination.    Any thoughts on pretty campgrounds to stay for a week in our palomino pop-up and 2 standard poodles?

What part of Maine would you be looking into?

http://mainefamilycamping.com  This is the one .  It's small but was always a friendly, clean safe place.  I have a cousin who always stays at http://www.bayleys-camping.com Very big and lots for the kids to do.  Both are close to the ocean.  I will ask around and see if anyone has others they like.  Both of these are in Old Orchard Beach area.

http://www.campmaine.com  This lists all of the campgrounds in Maine by region. Has a lot of reviews.

A lot of campgrounds here in Maine have been updating recently.  Getting bigger and better... All depends on what part of the state you would like to be in for your camping adventure.  Lots to do, lakes, ocean, there are plenty.

http://www.acresofwildlife.com  In my opinion a very nice campground. Family friendly out in the middle of nowhere setting but 15 minutes from Portland and the ocean. Lake on site for swimming, boating and fishing.
