The family went camping with 5 other families from the neighborhood Oct 19th-20th.
There was so much to do from, hike the mountain, hayride, magician, pumpkin painting, laser show, not to mention our DS played from sun up to sun down with the other kids.
I would give the park/campground high marks for family fun.
My only issue with the campground is that the park never closes to let the ground recover. It is so trampled down, nothing green grows there. Most Army Corp camp grounds close from Oct-April and true to Army form, they have level camp sites.
The camp sites @ Stone Mountain are poorly laid out and on top of each other. Also bring your leveling blocks because not a site is on level ground.
With this in mind I would still recommend this campground for families. 🙂
Stone Mountain is, indeed, a very nice park. I agree that the sites are jammed up against one-another, but we were fortunate that there were several empty sites around us so it wasn't bad. The walk to the bath house was ALL uphill though. Both ways!
the hike up the mountain is a "must do" and the laser show is awesome. I'd go back again any time just because we couldn't get to it all in two days. We did take in a Brave's game while we were there though.
Great park! Highly recommended.
