Spent a couple of nights there over the recent long weekend. Site 22 was my choice. It's not too far from the bath house, yet not too close. It's on the creek and has a double wide paved area. Sites 21-24 appeal to me because they are shaded most of the day and quite big. Also, the sites 54 and 55 across the road look nice, but they don't look like they sit as high and dry as the low 20's. If I were to stay on the river, 36-40 are pretty nice and deep. The river loop's bath house sits on a knoll--a minus if you or your camping buddy can't handle steps or walking a grade. In that case, ride down to the next bath house.
Biggest disappointment was a constant rumble, 24 hours a day. Now it was rainy, and sound travels well in those conditions. Come to find out Westervelt has opened a pellet mill <http://www.westerveltenergy.com/> nearby. I've long since thought of wood as a renewable energy source, but man, making pellets is not a quiet operation. The mlll is about a mile away from the campground.
Aliceville is about 8 miles from the campground. It has a little museum that I want to check out. Aliceville was "home" to WWII German POW's.

Aliceville also has a Piggly Wiggly grocery, two pharmacies, and three small discount stores. It is too small of a town to have a Wal-Mart, however.
