In general, I think I'm pretty flexible and laid back but I do alot of research when picking a campground and camp site.
Google Maps helps see the size, shading and location of many campgrounds/sites.

Picking a Campground:
I look for...
Musts
- hook-ups (electric at the sites)
- shade.  no one wants to be sitting in an open field during the middle of summer.
- pets allowed (bringing the big lap dog - black lab)
- larger site for some elbow room
Maybes
- water (creek or lake near by)
- clean bathrooms
- not all seasonal sites since everyone else there will already know each other, but us.
Don't Care
- cable TV and internet isn't important since we don't use it.

First Visit:
When staying at a CG on the first trip, I drive around with a map and circle my favorite sites.  I then X out the ones that are small, unlevel, non-shaded, etc.

A must for me is a site close to a clean bathroom (free of toilet paper all over the floor), with electric and water at the site. I need
a few of the modern conveniences. I am not a pioneer woman. stp

My requirements are full hookup as my rolling condo has shower/potty.  I can get by without a sewer hookup, but I prefer one as I don't enjoy towing big blue.

Campground should be pet friendly.

Site should be pretty level with NO TREE ROOTS TO TRIP OVER (I have issues walking so this is a growing concern for me).

Many times I will check out RVParkreviews.com prior to my making the trip - view the reviews of the various campgrounds in the area I'm planning to visit.

I like to do the google map as well and see where my spot is.  I prefer campgrounds that have spots that are not right on top of one another.  One more thing is there has to be something for the boys to do whether it is a playground, fishing or activities.

We aren't too picky but our top 2 must-haves are roomy, not on top of eachother sites and dog friendly. We travel with 4 kids, 2 big dogs and my mom. So all though the kids aren't too loud just that many of us can create a higher volume  :-[  The level of volume is generally less if we can spread out a bit.
We have learned to camp without hook-ups but they are a nice perk. I'm curious what, if any changes will be made to my wants in 2011 since the addition to our newest camper born 11/2010.
