I think this is a new look to their website, but I was excited to find it as a Friend of Georgia State Parks. Check out the new look: http://friendsofgastateparks.org
Joel, I don't know about joining upon arrival, but you can join online at http://www.friendsofgastateparks.org. You can also go online to review the types of memberships and benefits that are offered as they vary depending on your choice. Since Al and I always camp together (doh), I have a single membership which allows me to bring him as my guest and gives us the discount per night as well as one night of camping (or more depending on the membership type) plus access free or at a discount to various state-
offered sites and activities. This is an annual membership as well, unlike the $10 Senior Pass through the federal government. Without looking it up right now, I believe I pay $39/yr. for the Georgia Friends pass.
We have been members for 2 years. You can join right at the state park. I did both times in person at Red Top Mountain SP. First time we made reservations to camp and prepaid online. Decided to join while at the park and we were credited the 2 nights back to my Card right away. Family plan gets 2 nights camping, 1 parking pass plus an option to get a second free in the mail plus some park discounts. We just renewed again in May I think and have used the pass 5-6 times already but not camped yet.
