What are some good places to camp with lakes or rivers close by?

I would Love to camp in California somewhere. I was in Yosemite once years ago on vacation for a day trip. I would love to have just camped there for the whole trip. But being from the East Coast my parents wanted to touch on a lot, not take in 1 big thing. It was still a great trip.

If you want to camp in Yosemite you need to make reservations at least a year in advance. Ive never camped there but ive seen the campgrounds. they are very nice with beautiful views
