Most sites are shaded, not much grass due to shade. There is a paved path most of the way arond the lake. Fishing and paddle type boats are allowed, electric too I think. The closer to the lake you are, the more downhill you go from the bathrooms. THe pet sites are mostly right along the lake, and it is a little noisy there, if you aren't prepared. There was an eagle nest near the boat launch on the campers side of the lake (opposite the day use area). Quite cool to watch it take off in am on Monday. THe camp store had basics and rentals of canoes, kayaks, and row boats. THere is a swimming area on the opposite side of lake from camper sites. THere is tent only camping on the swimming and day use side of the lake. ALso has sand volleyball court at dam breast.
If you forgot something, Frackville is one or 2 exits south and has a Big Kmart, and a Mall with a Movie Theatre.
We were there over 4th of July and it was very reasonable. Sites were mostly full, but rangers were visible on regular basis, and I think this kept trouble makers from getting rowdy. We did not have any noise issues.
We stayed on site 29. THis site is OK for PUP or Tent, but no bigger. Sites 31( small trailer or PUP) and 32 (RV coudl fit) connect to it. The rest rooms (no showers) are right there, but that means people will walk between the sites, as there is no designated path for it. SHowers are in big bathouse between site 52 and 73, and are clean and functional. We turned PUP on angle, so our door faced away from road, with TV up against bunk end . This gave full view of site, and people walked out and around our site.
Site 27 and 28 were nice, level, and long. Sites 30, 33, 36, 40 co-joined, as do 61 & 63, and 50 and 51. Site 5-8 good for PUPs, but not big trailers. RV's could fit on 2, 32, 28, 9, 19-21, 25(leans to front), 37 (14ft wide, 40 ft long), 39, 41(39ft long, 20ft wide), 48, 50, 52, 56, 58, 61(pull thru), 67, 69, 71.
Why did I recon RV sites? In case parents with Taj Mahal decide to go along next time.
