We were at Ricketts Glen state park this past weekend and this place is simply beautiful.  There is Lake Jean it the top of the 18% grade mountain for swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.  We rented a row boat for the 4 of us to enjoy a packed lunch on one of the islands.

The park offers hiking, ten cabins, camping (one of the two camping areas is on a peninsula in the lake), horseback riding, and hunting.  In winter there is cross-country skiing, ice fishing on the lake, and ice climbing on the frozen falls.  The Glens Natural Area has eight named waterfalls in Glen Leigh and ten in Ganoga Glen, these come together at Waters Meet; downstream in Ricketts Glen there are four to six named waterfalls.  The park has four rock formations from the Devonian and Carboniferous periods.

In 1999 Hurricane Floyd closed the park and downed thousands of trees; helicopter logging protected the ecosystem while harvesting lumber worth nearly $7 million, some of which paid for a new park office in 2001.  They also paved in roads, leveled all the camp sites, and reworked the beach with new sand, rebuilt the concession stand and several bath houses.  If only they would have added electric in the campground.Great campground.

Looks like a nice place. I could not find anything about generators. Do you know their policy on them, or did you not use one?

I was at Ricketts Glen May 1.  It was an awesome park.  It would have been nice to have electric, but I survived.  There were some people with quiet generators who used them during the day.

I want to find an electrical looking box to bring with me next time I go some place without electric.  Tie it to a tree and just run an extension cord to it.  Mess with peoples heads as they walk by and wish they had my spot with "electric"

Saw someone do this a few years ago at Pinchot SP.  They had a 4x4 post with a base the water and electric hookup.  THey put it out at driveway end and ran everything to camper from there.  It really had people talking.

I never thought of a water hook up.  I will have to add that.  If I am going that far I might as well add a cable hook up as well  ;D

Here are a few pictures from hiking the falls at Ricketts Glenn SP.  Amazing place if you ever get the chance to visit.
