Hi all,
So I hooked up my pup 1984 viking 21Dr to the TV this weekend to check out all the lights. When i put on TV lights i get all the markers on the sides to light up and the rear left and right side red lights come on. The left side is very dim. ( the rear of my 1984 viking has a set of lights on each side it is a set of one large red light and one large amber light) the amber lights are on the out side and the red lights toward the inside. The turn signals work by making the red lights blink on the side as indicated again the left side rear is very dim but non the less it does blink on and off. however no matter what mode i put light on TV in the amber rear lights do not illuminate at all checked bulbs there fine and they are a single filament bulb. so my question is: what can be causing the left side to be so dim, I swapped out bulb and same results. and why wont the amber lights come on at all and what are they for. Are they just rear clearance lights for visibility that come on when you turn on headlamps on TV like on the TV when you put on headlamps the rear lights light up. I did have a chance to unmount the light sets on rear of pup and look to make sure all the wires are connected, visually they all looked good. should i replace the factory plastic wire joiners with new crimp type joiners for a better connection. Any help would be appreciated

Is this the first time that this trailer has been hooked up to this TV (tow vehicle) and what kind of connectors do you have on the TV and the PUP?

Your left side light could be dim because of a poor ground connection. That is a leading cause of trailer light problems.

Agree with Raycfe in needing answers to those questions. That will help get you more precise answers. If this is a new to you PUP, the amber lights could have been added to work with a tow vehicle that has amber rear turn signals. Those are wired differently from a TV with red turn signal/brake light combos.

Problem solved You folks are the best props to both of you RAYCFE & JEA412. I went underneath pup this weekend removed old grounding hardware in several spots. took a wire brush drill attachment and some sand paper to the ground mounts, replaced the bolts and re-stripped the wires. My pup lights light up like a Christmas tree. Every light is now bright and functional. THANK YOU , THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
