Trailer Plug Holder

[smg id=607]
In the past my trailer plug use to lay on the ground through rain and snow.

Ths "Stay Put" plug holder is designed to keep the plug off the ground and clean

I mounted the plug holder on the A frame.

I did my trailer plug a little different, but I'm happy with it.  Mounted on the battery case side. works well.  I also mounted a voltmeter on the  battery case side too.

We also use the Plug-Guard. Originally bought it for the Flagstaff and transferred it to the Niagara when we picked it up. Love it!

This may just be my new first mod. Do they also have something like this to protect the connection at the TV? That is the one that went bad first when we had our pop up. The one at the trailer seemed to hold up pretty well over 12 years.

The TV connection should have a spring-loaded cap if you have a 7-way plug.

If it's a 4-way, you could buy a replacement end, smear the prongs with some electrical protectant and plug it in when the trailer isn't in use. My TV has the factory tow package with both style connections. The 7-way is fine because of the cap but the 4-way has one terminal that's so corroded it won't work.

Yeh, I have the 7 pin with the spring loaded cap but it doesn't seal up very well. I think that with winter driving in Iowa, it just gets a lot of corrosion from snow & salt on the roads. I've gone through three of these over the twelve years we had the pup. On this latest one I spray it down a couple times a year with Electrical contact cleaner in the hopes that it will last longer.

Yep, this is what we did.  It is on the inside of the frame under where the battery mounts, so very safe from the weather.

Should be using dielectric grease. Coat the male end of your plug with the grease and then plug it into the receiver on the TV. Enough grease will transfer to the contacts to protect them. They use enough salt on the roads here in Ontario that during the winter the contacts would short out and my brake controller would show I had the trailer connected. The dielectric grease solved the problem for me.

I use the Plug-Guard as well, one of my 1st mods. I hated the cable just draping over the frame because I would always find it on the ground.
