Lately I have been thinking of how to say this....I have had thoughts of "Why do I camp with CanvasCampers?"  I believe it isn't the destination but the people.  We are all friendly and can talk with anyone.  We had 2 new couples camping with us on this trip, Andrew & Margaret and Robin & Rob.  I saw many people chatting with them during the weekend.  I hope to see you again.  We all pitch in and help when and where needed.  Jonathan helped me set up a tent at Knoebels and I appreciated it very much.  This past weekend Lori had a pain in her side that mysteriously went away but Vicki and Barb (Nurse/EMT) chatted with Lori to make sure she was OK and nothing was seriously wrong.  Thank you again.

The kids all play nice together, Boys and Girls of all ages.  If an adult does sees them doing something wrong and corrects them, the kids respect the adults.  I really enjoy watching Nathan run around with the other kids laughing and playing.  He is among the youngest of the kids but I hope when he becomes an older kid like Jamie and Courtney he is as nice.  Jamie, I always see including all of the kids in a game of catch. Courtney, a levelheaded college freshman who came out to visit us this weekend without her parents.  That says something when a 19yo college freshman would rather spend her Saturday with us than at a party somewhere on campus.

There are always stories being told around the campfire of someone with camper trouble and how someone else pitched in for the repair with advice, tools, or just a ride/tow.  The adults in our group range in age / stages of life / beliefs / etc, yet we can easily chat together.  There may be a friendly debate but I have never heard an argument during the years I have camped with this group.  I bet there could be a long list of items that people forgot and borrowed from someone else.

My parents had a group of friends since High School that they are still friends with today.  I barely talk to anyone from my HS but as I think about everyone on CanvasCampers you are all my close group of friends.  I enjoy getting together with you every month or so and hope we do so for a long time to come.

Matt I don't think it can be better said. If you told me I would be camping with a bunch of people you met on the internet. I would have told you that you were crazy. We had a ball! Watching the kids play all day and into the night was great.( some bigger than others). Friends are our chosen family.  Gary

I wish there was a "like" button!  So true, Matt!

My goal in life is to be the person my dog thinks I am.

I agree with everything you said Matt. Very well put. I am the one that is borrowing something every trip. For whatever reason there is always something I forget. This past trip it was the tote of clean dishes and my coffee pot. The only plus to that was I did not have dirty dishes when i got home.

What a fantastic post, I'm glad this was resurrected (ha, get it? you'll understand when the video finally makes it on).

I began camping with the Canvas Campers because I got a camper and didn't know the first thing about it, other than it was street legal and I could tow it.  Who knew they had to be level?

I keep camping with the Canvas Campers because I have never met such wonderful  people before.  I've always wanted those family vacations that you see on TV, with  people coming together, doing activities or just enjoying dong nothing together.  I've always begged for that from my family and it's never going to happen.  Instead, I was accepted into this wonderful family.

Why do I camp with Canvas Campers?  Because I couldn't imagine a nicer, more relaxed, responsible (most of the time), accepting, loving and caring group of people!

So tell me, what would you do if your teenage daughter said "Can I borrow the car? I going to meet someone in the woods that I've been talking with on the internet"?
That said, I've met a fantastic bunch of campers this way.

I said just that- but not as a teenager.  I was a bit disappointed when my mom handed me the keys without hesitation.  😮

I think its time to revisit this. I'm asked all the time why i drive crazy miles and hours to camp. The truth is i can't explain why. I tell everyone come and you will understand. This an very diverse group of people and that is what makes it what it is. A camping family!
