A city dweller here but I do have the blessing of being able to park our HTT in the back yard for storage and access. Last year my neighbor had to do some work to a retaining wall that required access from my yard and it totally jacked up our yard. With two dogs it has been difficult to get the yard back in order but I've been thinking that I will attempt, this spring, to do some landsacaping to refresh the area. Well, along with this thinking came an idea to design the landsacaping around a campground theme since the HTT is already back there. Does anyone have any pics of backyard camping areas that might give me some inspiration? My ideas may be too grand but I am thinking of a water feature complete with a small running stream and small foot bridge to access the campsite area.
I like the idea of designing the back yard for a camping area. I own a landscape design and maintenance business. I have added features to backyards to make them feel more natural and secluded. I would reccommend large boulders flanking the outer area of the parking area for the HTT. This will close the area in and make it feel more peaceful and intimate. Also I would create a level pad for the HTT with power and water hook ups. I tell clients all the time that "my imagination is only limited by your budget".
Nice ideas camp dad. I'm more used to dealing with commercial interior design in my line of work. I love the outdoors though so will try to think more in that direction. Wish I had more experience with planning outdoor spaces. The electric and water hook ups was something I hadn't considered but now will top the list.

Camp Dad, This is off topic, but, what did you have to do to get into this line of business. I have a 20 year old son who is looking for a new and decent career path and he seems very interested in this line of work. I'd like to share with him, some ideas to get him going in the right direction. He's very creative, has a really good work ethic and he's extremely intelligent ( no bias intended ) so I think he would really excel at something like this if he get's off on the right foot. I really believe, with education and a good understanding of what he's getting into he would enjoy something like this as a career.
Camp Dad, You're only about 18 hours away. Perfect for a camping road trip ;D
Can't do much until spring any way so I'll have plenty of time for planning and dreaming. Trying the pics again of the space

Pretty rough, I know, and not the biggest area since it is a city lot but I think I could do something decent enough so that we could enjoy the area more when we aren't able to get out and camp
Funny, but, I'm watching the snow melt as I type and I'm trying to plan the configuration of my stream slash water feature. We have unbelievable weather for a midwest January at 59 degrees 🙂 . Unfortunately the flow of melting snow , because of the slope of the yard, winds up right at the front door of the campers space. I may have to change our current garden location so I can back in a little farther and take advantage of mother nature's natural flow of things. Other options are to force the water elsewhere but as a camping type individual I know better than to mess with mother nature ;D
I really wish I had the space and the wooded areas that the first couple of pics had, not to mention that pool, wow. Thanks for posting, the log seating around the fire pit in the later post is really cool. I just may need to incorporate that or something similar into my plans.
Thanks for linking this.
