we have a great 1997 coleman laredo  pop up its been great to us for the past 4 years theres just one problem ... we've  outgrown it , so we are looking for a bigger pop up and preferbly with roof top ac ( carrying a 90lb portable ac up and down 12 steps every trip can get real old ) plus with the addtion of our son we just need the room , i have $2000.00 for a new pup but it seems  like everything i have came across is junk , like rotting floors , leaking roofs ect , am i just expecting to much ? maybe its me but i just drove from md to newark deleware tonight to see a camper that was described as "great shape " only to find a roof leak , rotting corner and soft floor , I know $2000 isnt alot but i guess i thought it would get us more than a project

There are popups out there for great prices, it just depends if you have the time and patience to wait for the right one to come along?

Going from an 8' box to larger normally cost more, just like adding a slide out for more room or an a/c unit.

If you're not buying brand new or one priced like brand new, expect that there maybe minor work.  Just figure out what things you can do?

Hard:
Bad canvas isn't usually worth repair since leaking would cause other damage, expect $1000 to replace.

Medium:
Roof leaks (non-ABS) is repairable with some plywood, sheet metal and a little craftsmanship.  Many have done it.

Med/Easy:
Fixing a floor is pretty easy since you can normally unscrew the cabinets and benches; install new plywood and laminate roll or tile floor.  Make sure the leaking problem is fixed first!

Most roof top a/c units use a standard 14"x14" hole.  If the roof isn't ABS, don't pass up a great camper without a/c because you can always add it later.  First, buy the unit.  Then, cut the hole and install a roof vent with fan.  (Same size as the a/c)  When you come across an a/c or a junk camper with a working a/c unit... swap it.

What do you tow with? There's a really sweet hybrid for sale in our neighborhood, immaculate condition. We looked at it but can't tow it safely with the minivan. It's a 2006 Rockwood Roo 17. http://york.craigslist.orgR.....88750.html The owner is away until this weekend or Monday the 1st. If you are interested, email him. He will get back to you.

Congratulations on your NYU PUP.
It took us  quite a while to weed thru all the junk & dis-honest people out there. It was really disappointing. We saw one that was just about perfect, the people were great. When we lowered the top there was a 5 inch gash in the top. They had cualked over it and said it was leak free. We passed on it.
We love our 04 Rockwood 2516 with the dinette slide-out. That extra space goes a long way when your stuck inside due to bad weather or just chillin in the a/c.
Good luck with yours.
