We have had rain almost every weekend this summer in Georgia. Since we don't have a huge garage or building to dry out the PUP after it gets drenched, we have deprived ourselves of a lot of camping trips. The last 2 trips, we went through huge thunderstorms. Should we me more "Hard Corps" and just go for it? I promise, I'm not even thinking about the dark side (yet).
I"m with you; I love the rain, but enough is enough (for a little while). We camp rain or shine, but unlike you, we can pop in the car port when we get home and let 'er dry out. That usually takes several days if it's still raining because of the humidity. The only thing I hate about camping in the rain is tracking mud and the dirt splatter up the sides and such.
But hey! It's all camping!! That's why we have a deck of cards in the drawer and a cooler of "cold dranks".
This topic cracks me up! It seems we have only camped less than 5 times where it has not rained -- from steady drizzle for days to downpours and drenchings! We carry 6 ponchos with us - 2 in the TrailManor (which still folds down into itself and should be dried off if possible) and 4 in the van. Usually it is lightly raining when we set up and take down, so we wear our lightweight Mickey Mouse ponchos from the van; but when we have downpours, it's the Orca "killer whale" motif for weight and durability. It's not the rain that's so bad, but the freaky tornado warnings scare me. 😀
A funnel cloud was spotted about 5 miles south of us about a half hour ago.
Is it wrong that I am sitting by the window looking at the next storm coming through hoping to see my first tornado? I've seen water spouts which are technically tornadoes over water but never on land. I was on a boat fr a few of them so the pucker factor was definitely there.
I call myself a severe weather enthusiast. Lol. I look forward to hurricane season too. 😀
