CAMPING IS GETTING SAFER!!! (???)

In Cabelas' adv insert of June 8, 2011, they offer:
Mossberg Camper. A stockless (hence, more concealable) 12 gauge shotgun with a 3" chamber, including a carrying case and adjustable strap. (oh, and you save 30 bucks.)

Well, I, for one, will feel a whole lot safer knowing that the wingnut next to me is packing a 12 gauge, especially if he spends the evening getting likkered up next to the fahr.

I know I feel safer  ::) (sarcastic comment).  Is it legal to have a "sawed off shotgun"?  Isn't this the same thing only they are cutting the stock off?

Weapons have never been the problem.  It's the person using the weapon that you should worry about and focus on.  Please don't let special interest groups convince you that any device poses a greater threat to the general public than the psychopath using the device.

We often are packing a 12 gauge as well as a 270 rifle and a mathews compound bow we are neither wing nuts as you call us nor do we get likkered up.  I respect your right to be unarmed and would like equal respect for being well armed after all it is what our great country is founded on the right to bear arms and being a vet I am very sensitive to it.  After all I chose not to call you a left wing liberal do not call me a wing nut

Uh- no. It is not legal to have a sawed off shotgun.  Shotguns can and do come with pistol grips, that's perfectly legal. These configurations are usually designed for home defense.  The minimum length for a shotgun barrel is 18 inches.  "Sawed off" generally refers to having a barrel less than 18 inches in length, a modification I do not recommend that anyone undertake.  Get caught with one and you may be looking at some serious time in a Federal motel.

Someone should put "DUCT TAPE ALERT" in the subject line!
