Dehydrated and preserved food while camping

We purchased a package deal of dehydrated and freeze dried food from Sam's Club and use many of the foods while camping. They take up relatively little space and cook up like fresh (mostly). In case of disaster or emergency (or high food/gas prices), we also use our supply when not camping as supplements to our fresh food and meat.

I've also gotten an electri mill to grind my own wheatberries, other grains, and beans for making healthier bread and muffins.

Do any of you also use dehydrated and freeze dried foods?

I'm definitely a dehydrator.

I'll search what I call the "Amen Aisle" for sirloin suitable for making jerkey.  If it's not 30-50% off regular price, it's not worth it to me.

I have been known to blow an entire batch because I pulled it too soon.  That was only once and it won't happen again.

We have a dehydrator as well but the food selection we got from Sam's Club consists of no prepared foods, only "pure" of whatever it says on the #10 can. Need to rehydrate with water. Shelf life is about 45 yrs. if unopened! We've opened and used a lot of ours.  😉 I don't think I will be alive in 45 years.  ;D
