Until this year, I have used the same lights for close to 20 years now. But after many storms and wind, they are about to retire. I bought some LED lights that change colors and stay solid white, red/white, or change red/ white/ blue or blue/white.
I even went and bought some small LED ice sickles to put up in the hot weather to remind us how we like the cold at times.
I use my lights on my awning a little at dark to light the sitting area. The lights go off at bed time or when other campers go to bed if I'm still up. Usually around 10 pm.
We use a rope light on the awning.
If camping with friends or at a rally where there is likely to be other people at our site, we will add a couple strands of white Christmas lights around the perimeter of the site to make it a bit safer to see where everyone is walking.
The lights get turned off most of the time.
There has been a couple times where I wake up in the morning and have to turn them off though. Oops.
Good thing we camp at State Parks and our sites are usually not right on top of each other and the light (hopefully) does not bother anyone.o
