Anyone going to The Greater Philly RV show in Oaks? I know it isn't as popular as the Hershey RV show or the Atlantic City RV show, but it is close enough and cheap enough that unless anything pops up, DW, DS, and I are going to go.
It is March 1-4 2012 in Oaks PA. It is $9 to get in but there is a $1 off coupon online.

I may be going on Sunday. We went to the Atlantic City RV show last week, and saw two trailers that we were interested in. The Keystone Cougar 28RBS and a Starcraft Travel Star 229TB. My wife still hasn't seen a KZ model that I think she would like, and plus it's a day to get out. I wish they would state which models are going to be there, not dealers.

We went last yr & will most likely go again this yr.
Twstdpear, you're right. In our case, the dealer didn't even bring the trailer to Hershey; Palomino brought it directly from the factory. I had visited my dealer a couple of months ahead of time, to inquire about the new floorplan & they said they had not seen one yet either. Then about 2 wks before Hershey, the saleswoman called & said that Palomino had just informed them of which units they were bringing to the show & the floorplan I was inquiring about was one of them. We saw it for the 1st time, as did the dealer.
DW, DS, and DN (Dear Nephew) went to the show today. We had a good time. DW and I had some good discussions on a Highwall -vs- Hybrid -vs- Travel Trailer. We really like the Bunks in the TT but it is heavier and I would need a new TV. The HW that we looked at was sweet and DW was impressed by it.....the slide out dinette and the walled shower Plus we could still put it in our garage. The HTT we looked at from the same dealer was $1,000 cheaper and only 500#'s heavier than the HW. It had 3 beds that folded out. Front rear, and side. We liked the 3rd bed so we could just through all of our gear on it.
The one dealer we talked with said buying at shows is great because there are many things thrown in like the AC, Awning, TV, etc. That made sense. All in all it was a good experience. We aren't buying anything until DS is out of daycare but it is good to be educated.

Busdriver...Don't you have bunks in your HTT? DW really like the bunks in the TT and I said I think I know someone who has them in a HTT.
One of the other things we are discussing is if the next trailer we get will be brand new or if we will go the used route again. If it is brand new, this is going to be the trailer we use when we visit Nathan at College so we need to make sure it works for us for a long time.

Yes indeed, I do have bunkbeds in our trailer. Our main priority when hybrid shopping was that we could turtle easily without using the dinette as a bed. With the bunks for the boys & the jacknife sofa for DH & me, it accomplishes that comfortably. And when we have both ends open or DS1 is at college, that leaves us with an empty bunkbed which makes a great storage area to help keep the trailer from getting cluttered with stuff, (bulky winter coats, dirty laundry basket, soccer balls, cases of beverages, duffle bags, etc).
Feel free to check it out at FC if you want.
I was surprised at how many hybrids were on display. It seemed like there were more than in previous years.
The good thing is that we didn't see anything that interested or intrigued us & both of us are in agreement that at this point in time, for our family needs & traveling style, we still have the perfect trailer for us. 🙂
That being said, we were hoping to get some ideas for our next trailer, our "couples" trailer when we're empty nesters & not hauling the guys with us, but nothing really caught our eye. That's okay though. We still have serveral more yrs before we cross that bridge anyway.
Don't know if you left yet but I'd say Bar rules apply....leave your jacket in the car. It is warm inside. I was with a 2yo so we basically walked into various trailers he wanted to and bypassed the others.
Another tip if you are bringing a young child (2yo DS)....if there are 2 doors to the camper, send one person in one door and the other person to the other door. Every time DS would make a beeline for the 2nd door even if there were other people in the trailer 😀 I caught him a few times by the 2nd door.
When we walked into the trailers we would classify them as "family" or "couples". A few of the "couples" trailers that we were in DW even mentioned how this is as nice as a living room in a house with leather chairs granite countertops, etc. I said those are for the people who winter in them or do more than weekend camping. Like I said, it was a learning experience and we had some good discussions.

My wife and I went today, and she even mentioned it was a good show. Not a lot of big motorcoaches, but more of the affordable kind. Good amount of pop ups, hybrids and a-liner style, plus even a couple T@B's. The KZ hybrids wern't there, so my wife still hasn't seen the one I like.

Thanks all. I went today, and was glad I left the jacket in the car. I'd say I got about 4 lbs of CG brochures. Not to mention a terrible $2 beef stick and a sweet blinking light up ring. lol.
I was hoping there would be a bit more stuff for RV's and such, it seems to me that not everyone is actually in the market for a camper, but mostly everyone there likes to camp. But it was still good. If I had a hundred grand to blow on a RV I probably would have had more fun, or $50 grand even.
Did you guys see those tiny beds on wheels? I guess they were consicered travel trailers, but they were only tall enough to sit up in. crazy, but kinda cool. I thought that weird popup tent that was about the size of a 4 wheeler was cool too.
Yes, I saw the small trailer section as well. The ones you can sit up in are tear drops. Unique. The really small one there I didn't look close at since we were just following DS where he wanted to go (made for a much more pleasant trip rather than fighting him to go in this one or not go in that one) I think the small one was for a motorcycle. My bro has a big Harley and toys with the idea of one of those. He already has a motorcycle trailer and he sets up a tent.
I agree, there is a ton of RV's themselves, but not many toys that go with them....and we all know there are camping toys that we would like. I used to go to car shows and swap meets and there is a trailer guy who goes to the Englishtown show. He has tons of RV stuff and I would always go there. I wish there would be an RV swap meet or garage sale at a campground somewhere. Many of us have extra camping gear that we either do not use anymore or have upgraded and could sell.
