We both bring our phones (a "dumb" one and my new "smart" one), two Nook Colors, and most times the TV (but no satellite box). How tech do you get while camping?

The phone and the nook I can understand. Phone for emergencies and nook for entertainment. But something about a tv and camping just seems wrong.

DW and I usually just bring our phones.  She sometimes brings her kindle if she's in the middle of a good e-book.  Our boys bring their Nintendo DS systems. That's usually it. Once we're set up, the general rule is no electronics (TV, DVD, DS) unless it's raining, although sometimes we'll put on a movie for them in the evening after dinner once it starts getting dark early and cold.

We almost always bring the boys' bikes and we have a lot of board games and outdoor toys to keep everyone busy.

We tend to agree but it has come in very handy when there have been tornadoes traveling toward us to know if we should hitch and run (which we have done a couple years ago) and only get a couple of Air TV shows and news before bedtime. Otherwise, we're outside or if bad or very cold weather, inside playing cards or board games.

My Kindle goes EVERYWHERE with me. DH has to have the TV/DVD player....but he actually rarely watches it when camping. It's just his security blanket, I guess. If we stay at a private campground, I bring my laptop. Heck, free wifi, why not?
We, too, have a stack of card and board games for the inclement weather. We therefore play a lot of cards and board games when we camp, because inclement weather follows us everywhere.  ;D
I bring a craft (or two) to do. And a long PUP to-do list for DH.

Looks like it's going to be 2-smart phones, 3 tablets-1-DW, 2-Kids, 1-tv/dvd with satellite. 1-Phones has a hot spot for wifi on tablets if 4G service is there to pick it up.

2 iphones, PUP has DVD player, usually no laptops or kindles. Have kindles, but still like the feel of a book and they seem to be longer than when on kindle.

Smart phones and a laptop for the kids to watch a movie on before "lights out". I tend to leave my phone in the TV. I hear it enough during the week.

We now have three smartphones, three MP3 players, two external speaker systems, and sometimes my laptop for work.
The kids use the smart phones to play team Minecraft at night, we sometimes use an MP3 player for background music.

2-smartphones, 1-MiFi mobile WiFi device, 1-Ipod, 1-Nook, 1st ed. and 1-Nook Color, 1-HP Touchpad, running android and has Kindle and Nook on it. Sometimes we will bring along the laptop. T.V. for "just in case" but rarely is turned on. Docking station to play music from Ipod.  That should do it. We have plenty of options while sitting around the campfire!!!!

Well "everyone" has their own reason/argument for everything they do/dont do.

As for me and Kathy. We both have bad sinus/allergy issues.  We dont spend a lot of time outside, even when camping.  So it really depends on "who" we are camping with, as to what devices we take.

When we go to Branson, we usually just take the laptop (and cellphones) so we can keep up to date with anything going in around the Branson area.

When we go to our fav CG. We take laptop, cellphones, TV, sat dish.  There really is not much to do there except walk the park. No nature trails.  We cant usually handle a campfire due to allergies. Smoke from neighbors fires usually keeps us indoors at night.  HOWEVER, with me being a late night owl. I spend some time outdoors after everyone else goes nighty night. I walk around the park or just sit outside and listen to nature. (After the fire smoke clears).

Everyone usually has their smartphones and tablets. We brought the TV once when we were at the local Jellystone which had cable hookups, only to get disappointed when I couldn't get to see the Longhorns play football because they didn't have the right channels. When we get our HTT this year we are going get the portable Directv setup and a WiFi repeater and we will be good to go.

I'm one of the crazy ones! Depending on what we have scheduled to do I'll bring some of my amateur radio equipment and a wire antenatal and make contacts around the country and world.

That's fun. What's your furthest contact so far?
When I was a kid, a neighbor had a 100+ foot tower with a beam antenna! It looked like a high-tension tower!

I remember camping as a kid with the Boy Scout's in the late 80's and early 90's.  We would bring Game Boys (black and white), Walkmans (Dad, what's a walk man?) and Beepers (you mean you could only text numbers??).  The rule was if the adults heard or saw them they were confiscated.

Right now when I camp I have my cell 'cause everyone has a cell.  Usually I just leave it in the camper and just check it once in awhile.  It isn't a smart phone.  Medically I sleep with a CPAP machine so I have that machine and usually a jump pack just in case the power goes out or I am dry camping.  We have a laptop that we bring so my 3year old can watch a DVD before naptime.

The Class C that I recently bought has a TV and a TV antenna with a Digital Converter.  I turned it on when I bought it but couldn't get any channels on it.  It is an old school TV from 1980.  Physically huge with a 6 inch screen  😮  I think I will be pulling it out so I have some more storage room.  It takes up a whole cabinet!!!
