The first p'up had one and it leaked ... could NEVER get the thing to stop leaking! So I prefer NO front storage - but then I have this pick'em up that has this extra large "trunk" ... but still have to pack everything just right to get everything aboard. How is it I use to camp with just a little tent and an old G.I. duffle bag that container everything ...?

We went from an '07 Flagstaff with a front trunk to an '08 Niagara without a trunk, and with few exceptions, I'm glad we did.
Having the trunk was nice, until the cheap gasket collapsed (out of warranty) and it started leaking. The hinge also rusted (cheap plating) to the point that I had to replace it when the PUP was three years old.
We found that we're able to pack almost everything that was in the trunk in the Niagara's compartment under the front sofa (outside and inside access). The exceptions are a folding aluminum cook table, which we're re-evaluating the need for, the dutch oven and a few odds and ends. It took some thought and creative packing but we're now comfortable with the change in storage space. And I don't miss worrying about another leak in the trunk!

I can see a benefit to having a front trunk, but I don't think it is a disadvantage to not have a trunk. I just put my stuff in the aisle of the pup and or the TV. It has never bothered me to not have one.

My current PU has a camper shell, so I now keep my totes (sewer, water, electric, and add-a-room) in the PU. I also have a tote for swimming (floats for the kids and an inflator) which is also stored in the PU. My carpet for under the awning is rolled and stored in the PU, as are my folding table and lawn chairs. Depending upon where I am going and when, and for how long determines whether I take the deep fryer, electric oven and/or bread machine. I have health issues, so for me it's easier to put the stuff in the PU at waist level than to carry the totes and shove them around the aisle and have to remove them for set up of the bunk ends. I used to keep all that stuff in the aisle/shower. Even tried having the rolled carpet on the bumper...too much like work and it got wet in the rain.
My indoor carpet runner gets stored under the dinette with the lamp, my 3 drawer organizer (meds, dog and desk). The DVD tote gets stored in the aisle, as does one of the 'misc' totes (holds over the door organizer, shower organizer USB strips) The primary kitchen tote (coffee maker, knife block and seasoning/utinsel carosel) gets stored in the shower.
My set up stuff is in the front compartment accessable from the outside - has level, lynx blocks, wheel chocks, small tool bag etc. Linens are under a dinette seat, cookware under the sink, dishes in an over the sink 'chuck box' cabinet which gets stored in the aisle.
Pretty much just throw a suitcase and cooler in the back of the truck, hook up and go.
