I think you can pretty much get stung anytime, though there may be times when they are more prevalent. You might want to call the park office (if you are staying at a SP, though the SP could probably give advice regarding the whole coastline). Be sure to carry a small bottle of white vinegar; it does seem to lessen the discomfort from sea nettle stings.
We went to Hilton Head last year during the same week. There was tons of Jellyfish and got stung twice. I still have the scars. We are planning to go back the same time again this year though.
After the first sting I was walking in the ocean with my 6 yr old nephew. Every couple of feet he would ask if this was where I got stung. I would say no it was further out. well after 5th or 6th time of asking I got stung a second time. I tried not to let him know anything was happening as I grabbed him up and yelled for my wife to come and get him. The last thing I wanted was for him to get stung, it hurts like hell.
I'm not trying to scare you though. the lifeguards have the warnings posted and white vinegar to spray on the sting after you rub it with sand.
But like I said, We are going again this year :doh:.
