While away for six days of camping I noticed a six inch tear at the corner seam where the frame stretches the tenting tight.  We could not figure out how this occurred as we camped a few nights in late May and never saw it.  Something must have caught the thread the last time we packed up.

With thunderstorms possible most days, we needed to figure out a way to repair the bunk end.  We didn't carry a sewing kit (we do now) but were able to borrow a small needle from another camper and I had some fishing line which worked quite well as thread.  It took a little while but things turned out pretty good.

Overall it was a great week of camping with having the kayaks out every day, hiked, biked and campfire cooked some awesome meals.

Moral: Include a sewing kit in your camper.

We have also on a few occasions had dental floss come to the rescue. A suitcase tore open at the zipper seam - dental floss used as thread and it lasted many years until we got rid of the suitcase. I tied a small knot to connect a broken small chain necklace. It's strong, durable, and minty fresh!  😀
