2011 Camping Season and Service Charges for Maryland State Parks
*New service charge fees for reservations. For every night reserved a service charge will be added to the base rates noted below for properties on the reservation system. For reservations made through the Internet, the per night fee is $4.43. For reservations made through the call center, the per night fee is $4.48, and for reservations made at the park the per night fee is $4.38.
Youth group camping will also be charged this service fee for each night reserved.

So, not only have the daily rates increased, now there is the "Service Charge." What a crock.

That's typical for Maryland.  Take all our pennies to pay more to the politicians.  That is why most of my camping is in PA.  It is sad.  Maryland has some beautiful state parks.

Not entirely true, here's my post from the other forum.

"We stay at at MD state parks all the time. Yes they do charge a reservation fee, but they lowered the site fee to off set it. Janes Island used to cost $30 per night, now it's $26.75 plus the res. fee. Two nights is now $62.36. So it only went up $2.36 for the weekend. I also want to add, looking at my past reservations, the fee is charged per night, so the longer you stay, the higher it gets."

The daily rates went down to off set the reservation fee, not up. We've also noticed that the daily fee at Pocomoke River and Assateague were lowered. I don't know about the other other parks.

I don't know what Tuckahoe used to charge but the electric sites are now $26.75.  Shad Landing (Pocomoke River) used to charge $30 for electric sites, now they"re $26.75.
