Hello all,

I need some good camp ground or RV parks suggestions for Central Florida.  Last year we camped at Ft. desoto for 7 days for our 25th anniversary.  And we loved it.  But just checked and they are booked up all the way till end of July.

We usually plan our vacations between march and June. But we have a "Little" Issue.  And we need to take our 2 week vacation before the first week of May.  The little issue is, my first grandchild arrived 5 weeks early, (last week) So my daughter will be returning to work first of May,  And im to watch the baby so need to take vacation before that.

We like quiet places.  And like to have other things to do that dont cost a lot.  This is why we like Ft. Desoto. we can canoe, fish, swim, see the fort, and stuff.

So do yall have any suggestions for me.  I have only camped at EG Simmons park, on the water,  and Ft. Desoto on the water.

You may wan't to take a look at Hillsborough River State Park. Plenty of hiking trails, canoe rental, and though you can't swim in the river they do have a nice pool.

Thanks for the suggestion, You know, That is just around the corner from me and I have never been there, so maybe this is the time.  I will check it out.

We spent yesterday at Ft. Desoto. Fishing on the peirs, and on the beach, We just love it it there,

Did yall know they are renovating the fort, They took out those dangerous steep stairs and made a flat sidewalk that winds back and fort up to the top so now wheel chairs can go up. No more stairs. Woo hoo for that.

Didn't realize you were here in FL... You stated Central FL but at the time of year your looking at another suggestion would be a couple hours south to Koreshan in Estero. Awesome quite park with a cool settlement to explore. Close to the beaches and also the Edison house and gardens are a nice day trip.
