How do you schedule your vacations time from work for camping?

I have two weeks vacation time each year and no personal or other days.  We camp one weekend a month from March thru November and I try to plan a few longer weekends with Fridays off.  The are taking a few extra days for Raystown this June. There just isn't enough time available for a longer camping trip or some time at the shore, which the best half and kids love.

I need to hit the lottery...  ::) wait, I don't play.

I've been known to develop "eye trouble", you know - can't see myself at work  :lmao:

Seriously, Joe and I are really lucky, it has taken both of us 20+ years of working, but we've finally gotten to the point of getting just over 3 weeks vacation a year. And we work a compressed work week (80 hours in 9 days of work), which basically gives us every other Friday off work. Life is good  8)

I have 3 weeks also, but we take it as Fridays off, so that can give me up to 15 weeks of 3 day weekends when needed.

Working in the health field in a hospital, my job is considered 24-7 with people clawing at each other for prime holiday and summer vacation time.  I have 20 years in and have close to 6 weeks vacation, but basically the only time I can take it without getting my eyeballs ripped out of their sockets is in January thru April (Forget asking for time off at Easter).  OK stop the pitty party Paula. Many thanks to JoeCamper and all of you organizing the rallies in advance.  That's the only way I can put in for time off, is to do it as early as possible.  🙂

I get two weeks or should I say, 80 hours vacation/sick leave. I use 40 hours to take a full weeks camping vacation with my family. The remaining 40 hours is used from one to hours leave for Boy Scout volunteering.    I try not to get sick!

being a full-time firefighter, my schedule allows me to have 4 days off in a row, every 9 days. so we take short 2-3 nite trips often.

and having worked for the state of California for over 30 years and since i often have to work holidays(this year i work Christmas Day and New Years Day), i have tons of vacation time. so, we go anytime except the summer and holidays. we prefer to stay home and avoid the crowds.

I am lucky that work is slow for me during May - July and can get long weekends but the rest of the year is near impossible to get time off with the exception of a few weekends.
