Does anyone use a screen or add-a-room with their tent, popup or hybrid?  Are they worth the trouble of setting them up for weekend trips?
Post pictures and cons/cons please if you have them.

I'm not sure if this is where this should be posted, move if needed.

We don't have a screen/ add-a-room ..  but we do use a separate screen dining tent...  When we first got the pup we looked at getting an AAR to attach to the awning...  as it would provide someplace to sit at night away from most bugs... and could even give shelter during a rain ...    Well after we saw a couple AAR's in use we decided that they weren't wort the money, they are only as big as your awning...

So we went looking for a screen/dining tent that had storm flaps ..

Now all that said ..  If you already own an AAR or screen tent, then the only way to know is to use it..  guess the big factor for me would be how long are you at that cg for??  a weekend ..  probably not (I don't even like to set up the dining tent for just 2 nights) .. a long weekend ..  I'd set it up ..  and if its longer then 3 nights definitely set it up..

I know up here a few manufactures are throwing AAR's and screen rooms in with the purchase of new trailers..

I considered buying one until I talked with a couple friends.  They told me that it is not worth the time and effort to set it up for a weekend trip.  My dealer told me the same thing.

When I traded our pup in back in Feb. The add a room went with it still in the box. We had the pup 3 years and just never used it.

No doubt each has it's own advantage - the add-a-room makes a sort of screened front porch for the pup, adding to the living space. The disadvantage (at least for me), it was a hassle to set-up and the end result was I never used it. Advantage for the seperate dining tent is that it can be setup over the C/G picnic table where the most activity is anyway, plus easier to setup and the cost is a lot less.

DW bought an off brand EZ up, w/ screen attachments, a few years back and it's so easy to put up and take down we always have it with us. Even on a short weekend trip.

We fall into that small category that love them and use it all the time. We have gotten the setup down to where it is no hassle at all.

I opted for the add a room as it's more weather proof than just the screen room.  Once a system is established for setting it up, while setting up the PUP, it's not a bad ordeal.  Great storage, extra sleeping area, kids or furkids play area or evening adult area without bugs!

For just a night or two, it might not be worth the setup/take down time.

Same for us, it takes us maybe 10-15 minutes tops to set it up.
