Have you ever tried to explain to friends or coworkers about your love for camping and they just don't understand?

Yes, we leave most of the technology and comforts at home and we go sleep in the woods.  We often don't microwave our food in a rush but sometimes cook it on an open campfire or grill.  Don't usually turn on the air conditioning to sleep but just open the windows for a peaceful night time breeze.  We do miss a sitcom or degrading reality show so we can tell stories around the fire or play a game with family and friends.  We still have our honey-do-list and errands waiting for us when we get home but would rather take a hike or bike in the woods.  Yes, we meet strangers in the woods and they sometimes become our life-long friends.

It all makes sense to me!  ???

You are right Joe, although there are millions of campers around the world.
Some people just don't get it.  Then again I don't get 'Italian Opera'; and it has millions of fans.  To each his own.
I have talked to many people like co-workers and some say the Fifth wheels and motorhomes are not camping.  I respond by  "You are right it is not camping; it is RVing, lol."
Our small Hybrid Travel Trailer has a fridge, microwave, stove, air conditioning, TV, DVD player hot and cold running water, kitchen sink, shower/toilet, queen bed and double bed.  It is camping to us.  To each his own.
Good Luck and Happy Camping however it might be.

I have several co-workers that camp so our conversations are usually about, "where are you going next" or "how was your trip".
We have an HTT and there are 3 or 4 of my coworkers with TT's, One has a 5'er, One uses his parents PUP, and several go tent camping on occasion.
Once in a while a few of us will get together at a near by campground which is kind of nice to have folks around that you know and to be able to meet their families.
I still like going with just my family too for some good quality family time without shop talk.

I always like how I have a story about going someplace and doing something much more often then my family or co-workers who "don't understand".  They may go on vacation once or twice a year to Jamaica or Disney or something, but I have gone on 7 different trips this year (so far, more to come) and I have spent a fraction of what they spend.

I get several people always asking me where I'm going or what I'm sewing for the next adventure.
Went to a local RV show this past weekend and meet a bigwig in the comapany I am contracted to.

Many of my friends of FB tell me that they love living life through my posts.  I stay on the go whether it is camping or other adventures.  Some say they are jealous.  I just say I would rather take lots of camping trips then one "big" trip or cruise!!!!  I have lots more memories and meet lots of great folks!!!

I'm rather lucky.  The teacher I work with is always looking to find cool and new places for my family to camp.  Another teacher and her husband are avid hikers/backpackers.  We've plans for several of those trips as well.

As for others, well, they have to live with my enthusiasm.

I'm very lucky too - the majority of people I work with/attend class with view camping as a great way to have a vacation without spending lots of money (especially those with small children who love the shore but can't afford a night on the boardwalk (I've been there too)).

I've always been accepted for being the person that I am, and those who don't embrace my personal lifestyle have always been respectful and kind when they tell me it just isn't for them.  At least so far...
