I was thinking about removing the side awning and just using a 12x12 ez up canopy in its place, has anyone else done this?. The trim line awning has been a thorn in my side since day one. When I bought the pup brand new I was new to pup camping and my dealer never showed me how to use the awning and the very first trip I used the awning I only attached the support poles to the side of the camper didn't think I needed any tie downs if I attached this way ( big mistake ) a gust of wind came and blew the the canopy onto the roof and bent the support poles where they attach to the canopy. I was able to bend the poles back but the poles were weakened, so my trip last week the one pole completely became unattached from the canopy so I'm thinking of removing the canopy alltogether or I'm open to any repair ideas
thanks

You will end up with a open space between the EZup and the PUP ..... no big deal........ But I have a hard time putting an EZup by myself, it may be just me. Two people no problem, you can just walk apart from each other. My awning I can do by myself as the roof goes up. I do not leave the awning mounted to the roof all the time, when I am not using the PUP, I take it off.
The space between the canopy and the camper will be a bit annoying in the rain, but the biggest issue for me is that the canopy door is taller than my EZ up canopy, meaning I have to have the canopy about a foot or so from the door. My canopy is an 8x8, so maybe yours will be taller.
For some reason I can't get this to post as a picture, but this is my setup when it rained with the EZ up in front of the camper. I just find the awning to be a PITA, and only use it when the people I'm camping with want it.

Thanks for fixing the pic Joe (lol, and thanks for taking it too!) Great idea with the gutter. I'll have to think about that for next time.
Raycfe I was thinking that a couple of those plastic furniture movers under the two side legs, and the opposite leg of the corner you're at stuck in the dirt/grass, dragging along the ground, would make it easier for one person to open the canopy. I must have made 30 trips around mine while trying to open in the grass to dry it off after camping.
I know the door on our Flagstaff was a good bit higher than the EZ up. Never measured with the Niagara, but I don't think I really have to! 😉
+1 on the gutter! The idea is very good and may solve your problem!
@MariskaHargitay: I've never had to open our EZ up too far when it's been necessary to dry things off. I usually have to do that alone since DW is at work the day after we return. I open it about halfway and drape the canopy carefully over it. I can usually lift one corner and walk it open far enough.
