I have a grill similar to Willow Tree. It is great for camping when I don't want to start the charcoal or fire and it comes with me whenever I go to a sporting event or concert.

I buy a cheepie $35 propane grill at walmart every couple of years. I keep it outside and uncovered, otherwise it would likely last much longer. This is the one I love:

Is it the same as you had?
It's great because it's ultra portable, and inexpensive. I suggest this to anyone who doesn't have a big family!
For my regular home grill, I usually take my BIL's old grill when he says it is junk and broken. I will powerwash it and put a new burner in it and it is good as new. Currently I have a $500 Weber that my BIL was going to throw away. I've had it for 5 years now. I spent a few bucks when I got it and just replaced a 2 part drip pan that rusted out...$40 for parts and I'm good for another 5 years...or my BIL decides to throw out a grill again :chef:

Those Chimney's are great. Fill with charcoal, put 1 piece of newspaper under it and within 15-20 minutes those coals will be perfect. Dump in the grill and start cooking. No lighter fluid, no stacking, no mess.

+1 on the chimney! Or, as a more than reasonable substitute, a large coffee can with holes punched around the bottom and a wire handle, like we made in Boy Scouts many, many, many ... years ago.
Of course, you have to find a metal coffee can. I know the brand I drink has gone completely plastic.

I also love taking my ECB camping. What is ECB? El Cheepo Brinkman Smoker. They are around 30 bucks and after a couple of mods, it works great. Smoking Ribs and chicken alwasy gets the neighbors to come over while camping and see what I am smoking because "It smells so good".

I have an ECB as well.....what mods did you do? I know you smoke with low heat, but it seems too low and my smoked chicken comes out like rubber. Someone said it was due to not cooking it hot enough.

Lock,
I got all the mods online. First I turned the legs around (you can see in the picture) so the charcoal pan does not sit on them. Then I used thread rod for the legs for the charcoal pan. this way when I change the charcoal I don't have to take everything out to get to the charcoal. I just lift the whole grill up and over the charcoal pan. I also drilled more holes in the charcoal pan to give it more air to burn hotter (not a lot but it works good). Last I added a better thermometer than the one that came with it. Hope this helps
I will definitely turn the legs around and drill more holes in the charcoal pan. I would take everything out and then dump the charcoal in from the top. What a PIA and loss of heat that was.
