As we were attending a rally a couple of weeks ago, I woke up a bit early, made some coffee and decided to enjoy the fresh morning air. As I walked out the door I popped in DH's greatest hits from 1968. First song that comes on was It's a Beautiful Morning by the Rascals. I really wanted to crank up the volume so everyone else could hear it, but I changed my mind, since there were a few late nighters.
Anyway....that song was just perfect for my morning! (Think I might try to put together a CD of songs perfect for camping. All suggestions are welcome).
When I think of camping music I always think of Harry Chapin.
Back in 1981 my Dad bought a used '78 station wagon with an 8-track player. It came with two or three 8-tracks One of them was Harry Chapin greatest stories live. Whenever we went camping with the scouts or as a family we would lose the radio stations near the camp so it always seemed like we were listening to this 8-track on a dirt road either to camp on Friday or away on Sunday. Harry Chapin always takes me back to my childhood and camping.

I'm kind of partial to that old timey Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel, but I also like classical and Led Zeppelin. With that being said, I can listen to almost anything except for Rap or Hip Hop. I can even tolerate a little of those. Whatever it is, it needs to be low volume in camp. Thou shalt not offend or disturb other campers. I actually enjoy playing guitar in the woods the most. :guitar:
DH has hearing loss due to electric bass playing; I have hearing loss due to playing an acoustic violin for almost 40 years. We have enough trouble hearing each other and often worry that we disturb others. Also, we love the sounds of birds and children playing/interacting - as much as we love music, it would interfere with that and we choose not to enjoy it while at the CG, there's a time and place for everything!
That said, we love blasting music while traversing the highways that get us to the campgrounds we frequent (either Cape Henlopen or Delaware Seashore State Parks). DH's current favorite album is Going For The One (Yes); mine is Quadrophenia (the Who) - we also both love anything by Rush.
I do need to mention that this is another one of my favorites:
Great thread idea!
Does anyone have a particular song that reminds them of camping and all the good things associated with it?
Bob Marley's 'Three Little Birds' often comes to my mind, as many camping disasters'(such as forgetting the PUP crank) get resolved somehow or other, often by the kindness of fellow campers...
