I'd like to buy some sort of lantern for camping without electricity, but with so many choices out there I wanted to reach out to the Canvas Campers community for opinions. It seems like there's several options, I'm familiar with batteries and propane, but then there's different fuels that I am totally unfamiliar with.
What do you have/like and why?
I haven't taken my lantern out of my pup in years. I have a "porch" light on the side of my pup that takes care of basic lighting needs. I don't feel the need to illuminate the entire campsite just because I can. I do have 2 strings of rope lights (solar and plug in) that produce enough light to not trip on things.
I carry a propane lantern but like I said I haven't used it in years. I would say stick with the same fuel you cook with. If you are comfortable with coleman fuel then get the same lantern so you don't have to worry about 2 types of fuel. You can always choose to go without light if you need the fuel to cook.
I dislike the battery lanterns because they just don't seem to put out enough light -vs- the weight of the battery and the constant worry of wasting/replacing the battery.
