The DH is out of town, been gone too long...took his truck with him and I'm sitting here looking 🙁 at my lonely TT and longing to go camping. I've threatened to rent a truck and hire a driver if I have to, if he doesn't hurry and get back home. I so want to go camping now that the weather has cooled off now. Guess I may just have to back yard camp.
Any whoo.....
Not sure if this has been asked before but.... what is your favorite time of the year to camp and the best place you have found.
Sympathizing for you, Nancy. However, you would have thought better of it had you been with us near Mobile this weekend. It was HOT, humid, and sunny. My hair barely was dry from Thurs. thru today, but it was fun. BTW, the TrailManor Trailblazers (Dixie Chapter) had our fall rally in Silverhill, AL at Wales West RV Resort, complete with a couple of trains for guests to ride thru the pumpkin patch, colored lights in all the CG trees, and loads of Halloween decorations! They are thinking of River Country for a spring rally, too!
So, normally, we love camping in the fall and feeling those cooler temps, feeling the warmth of an evening campfire, and enjoying the changing autumn leaves. Spring is nice, too, but fall is the best!
It was a bit warm this weekend wasn't it.
We've done most of our camping in the spring and summer, but not this year. I'm really looking forward to camping in some cooler weather. Actually I'm just looking forward to camping! There's a camp ground down by Montgomery I want to check out. And I'll have to check out Wales West RV resort, sounds like a cool place.
I like to camp anytime except for July and August when it is crazy hot. I'll go camping in January and February with snow on the ground and temps in the teens but if it is hot....then I just want to sit in my pool with a beer.

We like camping pretty much anytime of the year, as long as it's not freezing cold or blazing hot. My favorite time, though, has to be fall. Cooler temps, leaves changing, no bugs, and less crowded campgrounds. I'm really looking forward to our last scheduled outing this year in a couple of weeks. Nothing sounds better than chili nights around the fire with DW, DS and his GF, friends, and family. Since I am an early riser I can get out in the mornings a drop a fishing line in and enjoy a little solitude also. While I was typing, this my camping friend called, he and his family are changing their plans and will be joining us at camp instead of going to a concert they were going to attend. The more the merrier, I cannot wait.
Chief....you going to join us in January at French Creek? I'll be starting the thread soon.
Yes, towing or driving an RV on snowy roads is no fun but some on the ground is perfect :camperkid: For the January trip people don't book until the week before when we know the weather forecast. 3 years ago it was perfect. There was a 3 inch snow on Tuesday so the roads were plowed AND bone dry by the time we went on Friday. It made for a perfect amount of snow to be pretty but it did not impede any fun.

Now through June.
This is from a January trip in 2013 with the Rpod group, snowed shortly after I set up and was gone by Sunday
