I don't like bedbugs.
I know who slept in my bed last. Me!!!
I know where my remote has been.
The fridge doesn't cost me $2.00 for a cold soda.
I don't have to leave a tip.
Camping is certainly cheaper and has way better views out your window.
And we get to see some wonderful friends.
They don't like it when you start a campfire in your room at the hotel.
Oh yeah, the great outdoors is a bit of a plus.
For us, its about the relaxation and the socialization of the trip. Eating, drinking, relaxing sharing, without having to deal with vacations that have you scheduled to be somewhere and doing something like clockwork.
I always like when out friends say what time is dinner, our response is when the cocktails are done and everyone is hungry. ;D

We love having the time with the family! Our kids talk constantly about camping and we are always planning "The next trip". Also with a family of 6 and 2 dogs where can you stay for $20/night meals included and not have to go to bed when the kids do?
We have made some amazing friends camping and plan to meet and make more 🙂
I like to camp to spend time with family and get away from the grind of work and other things. I also like the fact that my boys seem to play more with no tv or video games to distract them. There is nothing better than sitting in my chair with a nice campfire going drinking my favorite beverage and listening to silence except the crackle of the fire.
Joe and Chief hit the nail on the head. We spent a week last year at Big Meadows in VA with friends from NC, and we spent less than $1000 including gas to and from. Where can 4 adults and 5 kids go and do that if you are not camping. Two years ago we took the kids on a Disney Cruise, we spent seven times that for 2 adults and 2 kids, after airfare, the cruise itself, and all the Disney traps everywhere you go.
