If you want to book a cabin you will have to do it on the day they become available.  They book up fast.  My sister tried to book a cabin for last year and couldn't.  We lucked out to book a cabin for this year.....11 months in advance.

If at all possible, BadSeed and I would prefer the rally to be at a park where there is electric. Trying to get a cabin looks fustrating as well.  Looks like a beautiful place to visit, but really don't want to camp there. Hoping you would consider a different location or find a private campground nearby for those who would prefer sites with electric.

After researching campgrounds and reading reviews within 30 minutes of Ricketts Glen SP, staying at the park is the best option.  I've updated the beginning of the thread, we are planning to stay in the "small loop".

There are amazing falls to hike, a lake for kayaking and fishing.  It will be to early for swimming... unless you're crazy.  :idiot2:

I just went geocaching today....I wonder how many I can find here without doing the waterfalls trail.

While you're spending time with family and planning next years activities, don't forget to mark May 16-18th 2014 on your calendar! I've heard the waterfalls there are gorgeous

I have to leave May open.  My family is going to a wedding and my wife is going to the bacherlorette party and I don't know if I'm going to the bachelor party.  Of course the only date we have is the date of the wedding.  If I look at the calender the week before and I'm still free, I'll book it.

This hike is beautiful.  And Challenging.  Please wear good shoes, carry water and snacks.  Know your limits. Don't be in a hurry, enjoy all the beauty.  However far you hike down, you have to hike back up, unless you have a car at the bottom(which is a fabulous idea). Keep in mind that the trails are narrow in places and wet too in places, so please wear good shoes (did I say that twice? Right).  There are lots of great photo ops too.  We will not be joining you for this one.  Have a good time whoever goes!

Joe, We just found this thread and have been aching to get out of the house for a weekend. The wife and I  re-conned the park a month or so ago and, although we haven't picked a site, are planning to attend.
We'll let you know the site number as soon as we've booked.

Even though there has been a lot of interest, it looks like this rally isn't going to happen with only two of us booked.  DGF and I are still planning to do a day trip, hike the falls and enjoy the state park.  We would love to visit others if they are camping.

We'll be there. We're on site 103 from the 16th to the 18th.
I'm amazed at how quickly the park is filling up for a non-electric camping park 🙁

We have water right up to the house so will assess later on departure time. DW is staying home to watch the pump. With any luck this rain will get lighter soon.
