So, DW and I have been tossing back and forth the idea of purchasing a hybrid for nearly as long as we've had a popup.  Well, today I took delivery of our latest toy, a 2011 Palomino Stampede S-21RGS.

Here it is in all of it's floorplanny goodness:

Here's some pictues of an identical model:

I'd have pictures of ours except I neglected to take any pictures during the PDI/walkthrough, and it's currently encrusted in ice from the drive home.

Which brings me to the trip home.  Every purchase should have a story surrounding it and this one isn't much different.  So, DS#1 had a Cub Scout pack ski trip this weekend in WV, and the dealer I purchased the trailer from is on OH.  At some point last week, I realized that I could cut out about 6 hours of driving if DS#1 and I left from the ski resort, headed to OH, stayed overnight, picked it up today and drove home.  That all went to plan.  Except for raining all the way home, the weather looked like it was going to cooperate temperature-wise, mid-30s.  Someone apparently had it in for me today.  It was sleeting on and off most of the day, but at about 4pm or 5pm, the temps started dropping much faster than the forecast predicted (I had checked the forecast at a number of places along the way before leaving).  Well, 5:30pm-9:30pm was an interesting time.  Rain started freezing on the truck and trailer, it then turned to sleet, then snow, then started accumulating.  I kept it slow, left plenty of space, and had an uneventful trip, however the pucker in the seat may never go away.

Oh, and I finally visited a Cabela's.  I discovered there was one on the way (I-70 in WV, east of Wheeling) and we stopped on the way up there yesterday.

DS#1 was a trooper today.  He kept himself occupied while we did the PDI, and was great on the way home too.  The rain and sleet was so noisy, I couldn't hear him unless he yelled, so he kept himself occupied during what turned out to be a 10 hour trek home.

Congrats on joining the Hybrid World!!!

i think Palomino makes a great hybrid. the only thing i don't like about their hybrids, are the shower sprayer that goes through the sink's faucet.

we would probably bought the S-238 if it had been available back in '06.

Thanks everyone!

I know our boys are extremely excited, and I'm wondering if I'll be able to make it through the weekend without them insisting on visiting Camp Driveway.  😉
