I thought I would post this pic up for those who haven't seen this feature on an HTT.
Currently three brands Keystone Passport, Jayco/Starcraft and KZ Coyote are doing this on their HTT's.
It keeps out bugs and water very nicely.
Also reduces or eliminates any drafts, so the bunk ends stay much warmer.
If you have to close up wet, the water stays in the tenting till you open up at home to let it dry.
Effectively adding another  way to stop water penetration around the bunk ends.
The tenting is sealed all around the perimeter.
No more damp mattresses.
Looks like the Roo and Shamrock have added a similar system for 2012 1/2, but have omitted the double tenting the others have as seen in the above pic.

that's definitely a nice feature. I wonder if , with the right plastic molding, if one could do this as a mod on older or other models that don't offer this feature. Ours uses velcro at that area which seems to hold pretty tightly but it looks pretty similar and I think could be modfied rather easily to be permanent.

other brands are doing this also, including Roo/Shamrock hybrids.

I'll have to check them out at the Springfield RV Show and Rally in February.
KZ did it for 2012, but I didn't see any of the Forest River Products at the Hartford, CT RV Show last weekend that had them.
They must have been 2011 leftovers.

2012.5 Rockwood Roo.

The first is the front corner of the bunkend.

The second pic is of the inside looking over the hinge attachment onto the bunk.

Nice, I sure didn't see that on any of the FR products in Hartford.
You'll especially enjoy that in colder weather, no more drafts...

Biken201,
Do you know if any of the other FR products are doing that? I've been to each website and see no mention of it. Palomino and Surveyor
The one thing that is a little different is that Keystone Passport and Jayco/Starcraft are  currently  have an extra layer of tenting which pulls down and over the bunk end door.
In my pic, the blue tenting that is pulled up to show where the white part is attached is completely covered over when it's pulled down.
I think that might provide a bit more protection, but I am glad to see that FR has made the changes so far.

I'm not sure if all of the FR products are going to the attached bunk ends.  When we ordered our 233S at the end of summer, we were unaware of the changed bunk end attachment.  We had narrowed our search down to the Jayco vs Roo and one of the advantages that we liked about the Jayco was the attached ends. The Roo won out, however, so we were pretty excited about our ordered hybrid coming with the new system.  The double covering on your bunkends undoubtedly adds another layer of insulation and protection to the attachment.  We've only had limited experience with our new trailer, but so far the attachments are working out nicely!

Thanks,
I'll add the Roo and Shamrock to the 1st post.
I will say that after 2 years in mine that the bunk ends are warm enough, so that I still haven't ordered Gizmos.
The only reason I think I'd order the Gizmos now is to protect the bunk end against tree sap.
You need scaffolding to get up there to clean them. 😮

Nice bunkends, wish my 2010 Jayco had them. I heard the real reason for changing the bunkends is kids where falling out of the older velcro ends. I keep my velcro clean. I had to remove the rear bunkend canvas and realign it. It was off on one side by a whole inch. The dear was useless in this area.

I saw at a recent RV show that the Solaire (FR brand) Palomino had the double covering tenting  on the bunkends like the Jayco/Starcraft and Passport.

ok. so the sealed ends on our 2012 roo 21ss came undone a little is it just silicone holding it in the ends?  we would have to drive really far to the dealer, my husband said he can fix it.  what do you think?

no, it's not just silicone holding the ends down. there are fasteners that do that.
the silicone is just so water doesn't pool underneath.

Not sure about Rockwoods and other Forest River brands, but most other brands use the LCI doors, they have a  molding that is screwed over the tent flap, then a vinyl cover snaps over the screws. I am willing to bet Rockwood uses something similar.
