Thinking about a hybrid

Looking around on Craigslist I found advertisement for an rv place that had multiple hybrids. When I called to inquire about some they said they had a 2006 travelstar 21sb. That was traded in 3 days before and immaculate condition.  Pics looked good. We love this floor plan. We actually have been doing everything by email and phone. We have made arrangements to go see it tomorrow since they are 2 hours away.
they emailed me to say when they took it into the shop to make sure it was perfect they found a soft spot up front and it will be fixed. I asked if it was from the seals and he said no it was one of the water heater lines leaked which also be fixed.
I guess do we go for it?

what's the tow capacity of your conversion van?
with all the extra weight of the conversion, is there enough to pull a 4000lbs. trailer?
the van may not have enough payload capacity left over.

If the dealer does a good repair on the floor you should be in good shape. I'd definitely check out the repair, though, top and bottom, to make sure they didn't just lay a patch over the bad section.

If the leak is from the water heater and has been fixed properly, you should be good.  Check the bunks (wood, mattresses, etc) for water stains.

Starcraft prior to Jayco made some really nice HTT's.  As long as everything is solid and the price is right I'd go for it.  Make sure to check for delimitation in the bunk doors and walls around them, that's the most comman places to find it on most htts.

If you don't mind me asking whats the asking price?

Joe, the pic you posted is the 19ft that pre dates the model I have now.

Here's some pics of a 21sb from the web.

We went today to see it. 1) they have to replace half the floor 2) the wall in shower was "loose" they would need to replace, I Concerned about mold. 3) there was a piece missing by the stove then a piece of wood right behind it 4)the table was mounted onto a piece of wood so PO obviously knew about water damage. We just didn't get a good feeling about it at all. They want $7995. Prob be more now they have to fix .
now on the other hand they had a beautiful jayco 19h that we liked. We now have to decide if financing/money or fighting . Somehow we get testy because of set up of pop-up.  So peace of mind and happiness which is why we started camping in first place or debt?

I'd say pass - the things you listed could, not possibly be, just from a water heater leak. This thing has more issues than you, need to, or want to deal with. There are better ones out there that have been better taken care of. Move on and keep searching. Good luck.

I'd run away from the Travelstar. Agree that the damage wasn't just a leaky water heater! I'd be very concerned about mold with that much of the floor damaged.

Good luck with your search!

And that's what they consider immaculate condition.

Sorry about posting to an old thread.  But that's so annoying to me.  You probably told them you were coming from 2 hours away.  They knew it was not in immaculate condition.  But they let you believe that until you got there.  In a sense, they tricked you into going there.

All that would do for me is to make me never deal with them again.  I'd also preach to anyone that listened about how they are crooks.

I agree and wouldn't have bought anything from them.

Crooks should have offered to pay the gas, or throw in a few goodies for that fleecing of much needed gas over it.

This is all true we have been telling our story to others and how crappy they where the second i got home with it i took off there dealer stickers. I did not want any one to see were we got it from. We did how ever get very lucky so far very little is wrong other than usual age wear. If you are looking for any camper look around at many dealers.:
