Welcome from Iowa, Are you looking for new or used? What type of camper, pop up or hybrid or other?
Watch craigslist daily. There are tons of good deals to be found there but the really good ones go quick. Especially as spring approaches. If buying used be sure to look things over very carefully from top to bottom. Do your research well and I'm sure you'll find a camper that's perfect for your family.
Good luck
Welcome from central Pennsylvania.
Along with watching Craigslist, check around at RV dealers. Many of the RV dealers who get popups in on trades don't really want them on the lot. The profit margin is much slimmer than it is on travel trailers or motorhomes. We bought a 2008 Fleetwood Niagara that way last October and payed several thousand below book value. They even took our '07 Flagstaff on trade and we felt we got a very good deal all around.
That particular dealer won't keep a popup for more than 10 days to 2 weeks before sending them to auction, so it pays to check in a regular intervals.
If you're watching Craigslist, you can use http://www.searchtempest.com/ to search every Craigslist within a radius you specify. Saves a lot of time.

Are you looking for new or used? If you're going the used/craigslist route, I would suggest staying away from the DC/Northern VA lists and look toward Baltimore or Southern PA. When we bought our PUP in '10, we found that anything south of us was considerably more expensive. We found ours in Rising Sun, MD. Besides, if you buy to the north, you'll get some immediate feedback on how it is to tow on the trip home.
