Just a short introduction. Been camping for many years, but the last few have created some challenges as my wife has MS. We basically camp in order to fish, and that entails  pulling a boat, which is another challenge. We had always tent camped, but then decided to move up to a pop up truck camper. That worked well for a few years, then the cab over bunk became a problem for the wife. A trailer type camper was out of the equation, because of the need to tow the boat. Last fall we went with a motorhome, but that hasn't panned out either. It's a problem if you want to use a vehicle each day to launch the boat, or if you want to run to town for supplies. I'm back to square one and probably going to get my tent out again. I have a nice Eureka Titan tent and all the necessary gear. If it looks like she will be able to handle the tent again, I'm thinking of moving up to a Spring Bar tent. The Eureka is a chore for setting up by myself.  I will need a porta potty for the tent, and hopefully will be able to come up with a way for her to bath in the tent.  We usually camp in VA for 2 weeks in April, and another 2 weeks in October. We like to stay atr Army Corps campgrounds, being retired and over 62 y/o, we can camp for 1/2 price. $168.00 for 2 weeks with water and electric is sweet! We rarely camp between Memorial day and Labor Day, it's mostly spring and fall. Anybody else have challenging situations for tent camping?

PS the post verification process is a challenge for a color blind person like myself. LOL!

Welcome to CanvasCampers from Chester Springs, PA.  I'm about 20-30 minutes from Wagontown.

The fishing and camping combo can be challenging, I've tried several times by hauling a 14' aluminum deep V on the roof of the pop up.  Not easy to load and unload, won't recommend it.

What type of boat are you using?  Any pictures?

Here's a few pictures of my boat and pop up truck camper. the truck camper has been sold. The tent camping pictures were taken in the Black Hills of SD in 1999.

Welcome from northern NJ

Have you thought about using a lake kayak for fishing? Kayaks are easily hauled on top of a popup or tow vehicle.

Cool, I was on the USS Forrestal much later, 89-91.  Support for their S-3 squadron.

Welcome from West Brandywine.  I have a 12 foot aluminum row boat.  I haven't tried camping and fishing yet.  I pretty much do one or the other......at least until my son  :baseballhat: can help me move the pup around the TV and campsite.

Thanks for your service, Shellback.  Seeing your time onboard, I know where you were.

Got my crossing in the IO in 81 aboard a nuke cruiser.  3 CV/Ns, 2 CG/Ns, 1 DD, 1 LCC (3x), 2 AFS's (one being my only PCS ship), 1 SSN, 1 VQ and 1 VAQ sqdn.

And to think, most of my career was considered shore tour.

Cant - Kzoo and my AFS, Concord, were in the same sqdn.  Often across the pier from each other.  89-to Decom.
