New guy from California. I'm David and well I'm putting the horse before the cart so to speak, we just picked up a 2017 Ford Escape SE. The hitch and wiring will be here on wed, and I will install it next weekend. Now its just time to keep my eyes open for the cart, a pop up tent trailer.

Hey David. Welcome. Great to see another camper representing this side of the country 😄

Good luck with your search. We found ours on Craigslist after a few weeks of hunting. Had to drive a few hundred miles to get it, was well out of our region. There's lots out there, just depends on your budget and requirements.

We had a firm budget of $5000 and the Mrs, her indoors, the better half, requested - no, demanded - there was a shower and AC. So that limited our options.

We too are pretty green at all this. Asking lots of questions and trying to figure it out as we go. It's not like with cars and trucks with a wealth of information online and standardized parts etc. it's been gooD learning though.

We only been out in her once, and are getting set to head out in a couple of weeks for a longer jaunt. This was my first venture into towing and it's .... different. You are treated with utter contempt by almost every one else on the road. You are always in the wrong lane, you are always going too slow, you are always in some aholes way. Especially here in CA, you know what drivers are like down here.

But don't let that discourage you, once out of town, towing is easy. Fun even. And camping is awesome in a pop up.

Welcome again. Look forward to hearing your tales

Cheers
Adam

Thank You Adam, I will keep that in mind, I don't mind cruising in the slow lane....if I'm too slow for ya, use the fast lane to pass that's what its for lol. I tend to pull over on the single lanes because I don't want to be that guy haha
I'm hoping to keep my budget close to 1000.00 but I will go up as needed (its California so not a whole lot is inexpensive lol) Truly want to keep it under 2k tho, I am going to need to get a generator and that's not going to be cheap (Honda or Yamaha to keep it somewhat quiet)
thanks for the welcome buddy

oh yes absolutely...What I will be hoping for....
I would like to keep it under 2k. I will be running it off a generater that I still need to get, during the day. That will keep power my ac and laptop during the day and hopefully charge my battery or batteries that will run the lights and fridge the rest of the time.
Size 7 1/2x16. This will allow for me to keep the tent trailer closed but secured in my garage.
I would love to have AC, but hey that's not a deal breaker. If it doesn't have one then I will just get one of those stand alone acs that vent out a window, I can make that work.
Fridge would be really nice, then I can eat without having to go find a restaurant. I have heard mixed reviews on the 3 way fridges.
A stove would be way cool, but if I had to get a coleman stove that wouldn't be the end of the world.
Potty and shower not nessesary I will be getting a chemical toilet that I will put into a privacy tent outside the tt. we can use the park.
Honestly, I would love to be able to have more seating where a few friends or family can get together and socialize, so I really like the open feel and look.
My hope is to get it sooner than later after looking at a bunch of mods and remodels I have seen, I am anxious to get started...my winter project lol.
