We have a bal leveler that we got when we bought our used Coleman.  We have never used it, but my friend is camping in the Niagara and called to say he uses one.  He says everything seems to be fine and stable, but that the tire doesn't fit totally into the leveler. Is this ok? Is it dangerous?  We have no directions with it other than those on a sticker attached to the leveler itself.

I am assuming "doesn't fit totally" means he can't push it all the way in....

If you have 15" tires, getting the BAL leveler all the way in can be a bit of a chore. Unless you are on a pad, you will have to clear space in front and behind the tire. I actually spread my leveler 1" with a bottle jack and now it slide right it.

As long as least 3/4" of the tire width is on the metal pads, you are fine.

We have 14 inch tires on our hybrid and I had to spread the Bal a bit. I've lifted the tire about 4 inches with no problem.  I also use the bal chock on the other side.

I have had that problem a few times ..  after doing a long run on the highway ..  tire heats up and expands.  On the pup we had 13" rims (185/80D13 tires) , so what I would do after doing a long run (3 plus hours) once we got to the site, when I would get out and check things out and show the DW where I wanted to stop backing up, I'd hand her 2 lynx blocks and tell her to place them behind the wheels just before I pushed back to the "stop" mark ...  With the wheels lifted that extra 2 inches the BAL slid in with no problems ..  I could then pull the lynx out from under the wheel once the BAL had lifted it, and when we went to leave, just drop the BAL down and slide it out no problem (no lynx used )...
